MMS trick for those without data plan

As you know Verizon's XV6700 MMS uses the same data line as other data using programs. By default all of it is set to connect to the line. Everything except MMS you WILL be charged for. So what I do to make only MMS Conntect to data network and not have to turn off WiFi in order to do them is this.

1. Download PHM Regedit

2. Open up a registry editor and navigate to HKLM>Software>Arcsoft>Acrsoft MMS UA>Config>UI> Change "EnableServer Edit" from 0 to 1

3. Go To MMS>MMS Configuration>Servers>Verizon Wireless>Connection via> Change to "My ISP" or "Verizon Wireless". If you have a newer ROM more than likely you have another connection setup with your carrier's name, use that, if you run an older ROM with no Carrier name in the drop down use "My ISP".

4. Go to Settings>Connections>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks> Change first one to "My Work Network"

Now when a program wants to open it can't connect to the data network. When you do MMS you can have WiFi on and it it will still connect, (Before it would fail). And to those who deny it, YOU DO NOT GET CHARGED FOR MMS, JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT SET TO DISCONNECT AFTER YOU'RE DONE. I DO MMS A LOT AND DON'T GET DATA CHARGES.

Enjoy this simple trick.

Re: MMS trick for those without data plan

A year or so since the last post, but I have a Data Block on MY line so I am very interested. I want to make sure I understand so here is my question...
Are you sending MMS via your WiFi connection?
If so this sounds like a nice solution and would work for my Bluetooth PAN as well.
If I want to send pictures now I have to swap SD cards with my wife's "dumb phone" and you can imagine how well that goes over.

Re: MMS trick for those without data plan

It will never work with a data block. You can't send an MMS via WiFi, it has to access Verizon's servers. Cut off the Data Block and do this trick and you'll have no problems.

Re: MMS trick for those without data plan

mms allows pics be sent/recevied.
for those of us w/o a data plan (ie: page plus), this is turned off by the provider. (i know. i couldnt received a pic a friend sent me.)

How does having wifi on get me pics sent from my friends? (i've always had wifi off, even when surfing the web on qnc.)

Re: MMS trick for those without data plan

Jedi: WiFi will not allow MMS, with out this little "trick" I use, the MMS will try to connect via whatever Internet Connection, and it will try WiFi if on, by doing this it makes it always use the dial0up no matter what.

Re: MMS trick for those without data plan

As long as there is a data connection through the carrier and you have MMS setup for that carrier it will work.

Re: MMS trick for those without data plan

I think he's asking if he can receive them, like get the notice he has one, then be able to check and then view them.
