This is the 1.04 Sprint rom. Not sure if you have a GSM or CDMA device tho. This is a CDMA rom so if you have GSM, I would suggest not using it.

I have the stock 6.1 rom and this helped tremendousy with google maps. I went from having my location "within 900 meters" (almost a kilometer! wtf) to 40 meters. I was really freaked out at first because my mogul was pinpoint accurate. Now my treo pro is close thanks!

I just came across this thread. I have this exact same problem (as camapghe) ... no location setting listed under the Service tab.
Did you manage to fix this by upgrading your ROM?

+1..but i noticed sum people change the settings to a specific com port. i've never changed a setting or anything and google maps/bing always finds me within 30 seconds or so
