Spacebar/period closing apps?? and a few other issues.....

okay a hard reset DOES fix it... but it seems that Sprite backup was causing the issue. The first time I use it after a hard reset it starts doing it again.

did hard reset still did it now everything is moving really slow...took it to sprint Tech said never seen the issue before and order me another replacement(hoping it is new) will be here monday can't wait... I love this phone but can't do the slowness and crazy spacebar!!!

Ok if anyone is looking into this.. I have an idea of where to start the Task manager. I notice after the first time this error started, I notice that the downward triangle in the upper right corner was gone and never returned.....hmmm... hope that help, my new phone hasn't done it yet.

Problem fixed: Hard reset device, if your using Sprint Backup, only restore the Personal Database, if you restore anything else, it won't work. This worked perfectly for me. No problems at all.

Note: Just restoring the Personal Database is only your PIM basically. Any and all apps loaded that didn't come with the device will be wiped.

my phone just started to do this. my spacebar closes my SMS and goes back to the home page then opens contacts. i can't use my spacebar, nor any symbols my phone wont vibrate anymore and makes sound sometimes. i've only had this phone since the last week in July so it hasnt been that long. what should i do? this is really making me mad. i tried soft resting and it didn't help besides the fact i can call people now.

I have the exact same problem and have found several ways to 'deal' with the problem. Here is what I have come up with so far...

The character lag may be because you have your messaging app open at the same time that you are trying to use another application. I know this doesn't sound like should be true, but it is. The most concrete evidence I have for this is having the messaging open at the same time that I try to use Azurea (a BOMB twitter client). I use the task manager to stop the messaging and then lag goes away.

For the buttons causing the the failures... your a little effed with that. I find that the problem is exacerbated by soft resets. It seems like once I soft reset it wants to do it ALL the time. However, I often encounter the problem even by typing an "A" or typing something in a particular order. I thought maybe something relating to a key swop was the issue, but when I check there doesn't seem to be any 'visible' signs of remapping. So, I try to dull the malfunction by messaging (choose a good friend) a series of 1-2 word messages, avoiding the error, to someone. It seems like after I do this the error goes away until the next time I soft reset.

I hope that helps a little bit... but here are some other things that I am trying to track down. I believe that I encountered the error after I installed a different shell on my phone. It is my belief (I am not that techie, but work with me here) that the shell has saved something crazy somewhere deep in the phone's memory, which is why hard resetting has not worked. I had my phone for 6 months before it started happening. So, if anyone has any idea of what something like that could be hidden that might be the next step.

The issue is with that Sprite backup program. I had to hard reset it to fix it, and I stopped using Sprite and just use PIM backup instead. Problem solved.
