Re: Got phone as modem to work

I have a pc that does NOT have activesync. Can I tether to the 800w?

in case anyone is wondering why I have not activesync on the pc, it is bc activesync can only sync two computers, and I have three computers. I wish to try tether to the pc that does NOT have the activesync installed

ActiveSync shouldn't be required for tethering. The computer should simply recognize the phone as a modem once you have it in Internet Connection Share mode.

It's worked every time I've tried it (which is admittedly not that many times).

Hope this helps!

Re: Got phone as modem to work

Those of you running Sprint ROMs should navigate to the following registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing" and delete the string value named "Extension". This will allow you to connect to the Internet via the "Internet Sharing" app without the dreaded error 67/authentication errors.

WORKED FOR ME!

Re: Got phone as modem to work

Its been asked, but never answered. PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER ME

I did a hack to be able to do internet sharing on my 800w; since the internet is shared won’t Sprint not be able to tell I am tethering? Especially now there are browsers which can render sites like youtube or other sites which can only be viewed on pc.

thanks

No, Sprint can't tell that you're tethering. Now, they're smart enough to put it together that if you're using gigabytes of data you're probably tethering but there's no real way of them tracing it. I've been tethering for a couple years with no problems.
