well, based on changing phones and relogging in to my palm profile, here is what i found:

it saves your email and contacts settings as far as i can tell, and programs that you have already downloaded from the app store, but NOT messaging

it does not save homebrew apps that you have installed, or modifications like rooting the pre for tethering. it also does not save your pictures or music, so make sure to save them prior to doing this. ALso, launcher modifications were not saved - things like adding contacts to a launcher page

i am not sure about wallpapers or ringtones, i was using the default options on my phone at the time

also, here is a nice review of the palm profile backup:

Re: Overheating and battery life.

Well I never get the USB symbol. I pull the battery, Plug the Microusb cable into the charger and get the ? symbol. I then insert the battery and instead of a USB symbol It reboots the device and goes straight to card view.

That's why i'm wondering if "Boot Mode" is something special.

Re: Overheating and battery life.

it worked for me just like the instructions said, i didnt do anything special. The only thing that i did is keep the phone in developer mode and that shouldnt mess with this process.

Re: Overheating and battery life.

Maybe the Update Broke it. I've tried shutting for phone off to start the process. I've tried Pulling the battery while the phone was on.

When you plug the cable into the phone are you using the wall charger or do you have it plugged into the laptop to to get the USB symbol?
