We do love Android…

It seems like these days Android is getting a whole lot of good apps. From the “Official Google Voice App” to HTC’s Sense UI, Android is becoming a serious contender on the mobile OS market. However, it is still missing some things – like Opera, Mobile Amazon App and Facebook. IS being the key word. Because Opera Software CEO Jon von Tetzchner has informed PCMag that they are creating a version for Android. Unfortunately, they didn't tell us when it would be ready.
Fortunately for us, Amazon has released their Mobile App. It allows you to take a picture of a product barcode (or the product itself) and find it on Amazon. Located in the Android Market, it offers one-click ordering, package tracking, and access to reviews and editorial.
As for the Facebook App, it should drop any day now in the Android Market. More info here.
Thanks darren.wlsn1 for the story.

Re: We do love Android…

Now we just need a good phone that runs android (besides the hero) on Sprint. I'm not sure if Android is as customizable and modifiable as winmo, but if it is, then I would take a close look at it for sure. I hate that the only android on sprint is hvga with an ugly shape and a ui that at times runs sluggish, makes me want a td2 so much more if nothing else than resolution.

give it a couple months Im sure those progs will be available in android, and we'll see how far along mozilla comes with their browser too.

Re: We do love Android…

Well, its not likely to be lagging behind software for the Pre. And while WM has the software, its not in a centralized "app store" (yet). This could prove frustrating for an "average" (i.e. non-ppc geek) customer.

All in all, it sounds like Android is doing ok. Personally, I can't wait for the Hero!

For my consideration: Word, Excel, Powerdull, PDF, eReader compatabilitiy and of course a decent email application. My basic needs.

Yes, you're right. I use these every day! Even more needed is a full-featured skinable music player to at least match what I have with PocketPlayer on WinMo:
