USB sync issue. Tried everything!

New user here at PPCGeeks and looking forward to enhancing my Touch Pro (Sprint) experience.

I have a frustrating issue! I am unable to sync my Touch Pro with my computer
Before you think "Oh boy, another problem this person can fix with common sense or a search" - I'll tell you I tried everything and searched everywhere! When connected via USB, the device is getting a charge (Plugged-in icon plus white charging light flashing on center button) but my computer does not have that USB connected sound that you get when a USB device is plugged in. Nothing shows in device manager and nothing is recognized in WMDC either.

Here's what I have done so far:

* Uninstalled WMDC and reinstalled from the Microsoft website
* Soft-reset my phone (multiple times)
* Rebooted the computer (multiple times)
* Unchecked 'Enable advanced network functionality' in the USB to PC section. Note: 'ActiveSync' is checked. I did toggle between that and 'Disc Drive'
* On my phone, I unchecked and rechecked the 'Synchronize all PCs using this connection' under ActiveSync>Connections... (USB Selected of course)
* Removed the partnership from both my computer and the phone
* Attempted to connect via 'Internet Sharing' on the phone using USB. Received error 67 and then I rebooted the phone.
* The phone does connect to my friend's laptop via Bluetooth - so Bluetooth sync appears to be working.
* I have NOT done a hard reset. I am reluctant to do this since i can't sync to back up my data (I do not have Bluetooth-equipped computers)
* I do have an HTC Mogul and it DID CONNECT using the same USB port and USB cable.
* The phone is not recognized on two other machines I connected it to.

Due to the last two items, it has to an issue with the phone and not the cable or computer.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (We have a MSDN subscription) but I had this issue before upgrading from Vista Ultimate 64-bit OS. Note: Windows 7 does appear to use the same WMDC as Vista (6.1.6965)

Please help! Thank you.

Update: I did a hard reset and it still did not connect. Sprint ended up replacing the device under an extended warranty for defective USB data connection.

Re: USB sync issue. Tried everything!

I don't have Windows 7 so I don't have that problem.

There are other post with people having the same issue.

Here is just one I found with search.

Re: USB sync issue. Tried everything!

I tried the latest ActiveSync, as well as the solutions provided on the topic mastergadgets mentioned, no workie =(

It looks like a hard reset is my only option unless anyone else has other suggestions.

Note: I do not have any custom ROM, using an upgraded HTC ROM

Re: USB sync issue. Tried everything!

in activesync on the phone, look in menu > connections...
try toggling the option to sync using usb.

Tried that too shaggylive. Well, I did a hard reset and it still did not connect. Sprint ended up replacing the device under an extended warranty for defective USB data connection.

Re: USB sync issue. Tried everything!

go to connections in the phone and make sure any advanced data exchange or fast synchronization is turned off.
