NET 3.5, Picking a ROM
So I've been browsing for a while now, and been doing some minor tweaks to my phone, (mainly Diamond Tweak and a few small programs with various functions). My first question is this. I tried to install Gyrator on my phone, but it says unable to load, need latest version of compact .NET 3.5. When I try to download it from Microsoft's site it comes down as an .msi file, and my phone will not recognize or install it. What am I doing wrong?
Second question: I am thinking of using one of the many, many, many ROMS available and wanted to know what kind of suggestions might be offered? Before I do so though I do have a couple concerns: 1. Is there a way to backup my current configuration just like it is, just in case something goes screwy and I need to reset it? 2. Before some of you say "just do a hard reset" I don't think that works, shortly after getting my phone I tried that and ended up having to take it in to have them flash it (with their ROM I think they said). I did ask if I could get a copy of whatever it was they flashed, but the said it was proprietary. 3. With that being said, how likely is it that any of these ROMS will work for me, or will they cause problems? When I hard reset my texting stopped working and phone signal was super crappy. Thanks for the suggestions! NOTE: I originally posted this on accident in the Touch HD forum, if a mod sees this please delete the post in the HD forum. Thank you!

Re: NET 3.5, Picking a ROM
They must have installed their carrier customizations to the phone.
Kinda like what cricket users have to do... If this was erased when you hard reset previously then flashing a rom will only do the same thing. Your gonna need to know what they did. Try and call tech support on the phone (landline duh) or something... Possibly they will tell you what to do... Just tell them you hard reset your phone because you were cleaning it out or something.. Or search here or on xda_developers.com for files to make it work on nex-tech. Its gonna be something like dcd's carrier cabs... Then all you have to do is load a carrier generic rom or cook your own with your carrier customizations. Yeah and an .msi is supposed to be installed from your pc...Run on pc with phone connected to active sync and it will do the rest.. Or they is definatly the .net3.5 cab around here somewhere. Re: NET 3.5, Picking a ROM
The .msi extension is meant for PC which will install to the TP via activesync as stated above.
Here is a cab version saved on the TP then you can install from the TP.

Re: NET 3.5, Picking a ROM
Thanks for the .cab file, worked like a charm!
Unfortunately, Nex-Tech wireless does not exist on here or xda sites. My search here turned up only my posts and one other member who didn't know TF3D has a slider at the bottom lol. Anyway, I sent them an email requesting the customizations and explaining what I want to do. If that fails I will try to call and say my phone is messed up and I need to flash it All that aside, is there a way to back up my current configuration so that I can have it for a backup should I ever need it? Thanks! |

Re: NET 3.5, Picking a ROM
Yeah, but I had to call everyday for about a week to get my hands on one PM sent, hopefully he can help.
Anyway, back to the issue of backing up my current config, would it be as simple as just copying everything in my root folder to my computer, then if something went wrong deleting everything and putting the backup copy back on the root folder? Or would something be missing if I tried that? |
