New Touch Pro user with some questions!

I just got a touch pro with Alltel the other day and updated it with Mighty Rom which is awesome!=D> I had a few general questions about the phone.

I know the battery life is a popular topic... But i pretty much have to charge it twice a day! Ive been on it a lot since its new, and im messing around with Rom's and mods etc... But is it really that bad?! any tweaks or programs i can use to help it out? I leave nothing running in the back ground. Also when your not using the phone do you lock it and press in the power button uptop? not sure the best mode to put it in when its not in use.

Also my phone seems to always be running hot. Im sure when i sure when i use it its going to get hotter since its doing alot of work. I've had pda's and smartphones in the past so im used to teh warmth of them when they are ruunning. but i tjsut seems the touch pro is hotter than usal and hot majority of the time.

thanks in advance for the help/advice!

Yeah batt usage is a sore subject with the TP. Good choice in mighty ROM. As for the heat issue maybe try another radio. That seems to help out.

Thanks Mizono ill check that out. Will any of those radios work with an Alltel TP? and i hear a lot about the telus radio but read there isn't much difference between them. Telus a good start?

Also i shouldnt have put this post in the TP upgrades thread. SRY!

I've been on Alltel, Sprint and metroPCS, i've tried different radios ranging from the verizon, telus, and both sprint radios and for me the difference between them has been negligible, with the telus radio i seemed to drop my evdo connection down to 1x alot for some reason. This phone gets hot, period. Radio change or not, it still gets rather warm, at least mine does. Best thing to do is to try them all for yourself and see which one makes a difference for you. Good luck and welcome.

Re: New Touch Pro user with some questions!

Thanks for the welcome and advice. Ill give them a try and see what i think. I just connect my device via usb and run the RUU exe of the raido?

Also i think i found another issue that was draining my battery.... I DL'd palringo and later learned it isn't working right with alltel but never uninstalled it. It was causing my data connectin to stay running ALL day. Even after i turned it off it cut right back on.

Re: New Touch Pro user with some questions!

Be aware that depending on location, you may have to manually update your PRL (only once / radio flash) in order to program your phone again via *228. I did. Everything you need is on these forums. I think a link to the PRL is even on the Radio FAQ post..

I am sorta new to this too so I hope the terminology is right...
