HTC Touch Pro LED Question

I just recieved my Touch Pro a few days ago and was wondering what is that thing that is next to the earspeaker? It looks to me like it is an LED but mine doesnt do anything. I cant get it to flash or come on? I have circled what I am talking about in the picture below.

Re: HTC Touch Pro LED Question

Darren is correct. It's used to dim the screen when it's dark out to save battery, and to brighten it when in sunlight to make it at least marginally possible to use in that situation.
