Wifi randomly turning on during calls

Recently (within the past 3 weeks), the wifi on my phone will randomly turn on while I am in a call. This happens both with incoming and outgoing calls, in various locations, and at various times of the day. It will also drop me from a call if it finds an open wifi network to connect to.

Is there a way to disable wifi while I am in a call?

Phone is currently running NFSFAN's rom, but this is the first time I have had this issue, and I have been using his roms for a while now. I am thinking it is more a phone issue than a software issue.
