Re: 2 months+ later are you satisfied?

I'm happy with mine, few little things I'd like fixed. Overall nicer than my 6800. (I miss the side buttons on the 6800 though)

Re: 2 months+ later are you satisfied?

I switched to the HTC Touch Pro from Verizon last week from a Blackberry 8830.

I was fairly disappointed with the device at first. the load times for my email was slow and even typing on the pull out keyboard was laggy.

I upgraded to Scott's ROM and man, this phone is awesome now.

I wish the battery life was better, but I was very aware of the battery life on PPC's before purchasing the HTC.

Re: 2 months+ later are you satisfied?

Seriously cut the verizon vs sprint crap, enough extremism. It has a little less RAM which hardly makes it horrible worthless crap, not everyone even fills it all up therefore making the point irrelevant except for carrier bashing. Let the rest of us that want to read about the actual purpose of this thread read in peace. Not all of us jump back and forth between carriers like e-peen crazed kangaroos and would just like to know how our preferred carriers device functions. I'm coming from an xv6700 and this is good info on whether or not I want to upgrade right now.

How can I put this? "Speedy reliability."

Right now, when I open a program, I'm finding:
1.) If it opens, it's very slow (often 15-20 seconds opening)
2.) Or, the device doesn't recognize that I'm clicking the screen/pressing enter and does nothing
3.) Or, the device starts to open the program and spontaneously shuts it down and goes back to the Today screen
4.) Or, the device freezes up

Probably 95% of the time, I get the first scenario, which is pretty irritating. The other 5% of the time I get one of the other three, which is even more irritating and really unacceptable.

My goal would be to click on an icon (or press enter) and have the program open nearly instantly -- certainly under 5 seconds.

Second choice, I'd like to see the memory leak problems resolved. No matter what program I open, I'm finding that closing it releases only about 50-75% of memory. Even running MemMaid doesn't fix this. By the end of most days, I have well under 12 or so MB free, even with everything closed.

Getting either or both of those two programs fixed would improve my experience dramatically.

Thanks for reiterating that. You've captured my point in starting the thread exactly.

Although I've pointed out some of the frustrations I've had, I really don't want to turn this into a bash Verizon or bash the TP thread. Like every device, it has good and bad points.

If the good things about it suit you, it may be the exact right device for you. If the bad things about it happen to center around the very things you need it for, maybe not. I suspect 99% of users will fall somewhere in between, where there are things they'd like to have changed, but much they like.

Just to give equal time to the good points in my case, I like the dedicated number row, the size, the ability to run GPS and Visual Voice Mail, and what I'm finding to be an excellent Bluetooth package. I'm a disappointed in it, but this is not a crap device by any means.

Doesn't really matter, since I didn't buy a Sprint.

I'm just interested in the overall satisfaction with the device I have.

Re: 2 months+ later are you satisfied?

I just received my Touch Pro, about three days ago, so I cannot really comment on how useful this phone is to me yet. I wish I could figure out how to put a new ROM on the phone, tried a couple times over the weekend and nothing. I will say this though this phone far surpasses the Blackberry Storm I had. And I had four of them before getting this.
