iGuidance 2009 -- can only be used on memory card it is shipped on

I was looking to upgrade my iGuidance 4.x to the most current release (2009). Unfortunately, after contacting their technical support, I have learned that they are only providing the software via microSD. No big deal except I don't want to utilize anything other than Sandisk and am told that the software is locked onto their card. Anyone know of a way around this so I can pull the software off the card and put it onto a larger card?

i think that would constitute some sort of warez type activity... which is probably banned on this forum. if there's a way around it, i'm sure its already been done somewhere.

if ur paying for it and not distributing it. IMO, it wouldn't constitute warez. nonetheless, i'm not sure how, i use tomtom.

The 2GB and 4GB cards have no additional charge. The 8GB charge is an extra $10. I'm just not happy that I have to use their card. I prefer sandisk and don't know what kind of generic garbage they'll be using. Really disappointing as I have been using iGuidance for about 3 years and have really liked it. Guess it is time to find a new GPS software...

May I recommend Nav-N-Go iGo8. It blows iGuidance out of the water. I have only used on CarPC, not PPC, but I'm sure it is the same. The 3D Buildings are totally awesome!

you are paying for the software license, and the license includes whatever stipulations they have decided on. if they decide that you must use that specific card, then you must use that specific card, otherwise you are technically breaching the license agreement, and possibly breaking the law as well.

Welp safe to say im not upgrading to 2009. Ill stick with v4 until some other program comes out with TTS.

I use a 16gb micro sd and im not carrying another card just for the gps software.

Hmmm... I once bought a used treo that came with TomTom preinstalled on a tomtom card. I put it on a bigger card and it worked fine. If the card is readable, I don't see why you can't copy it.
