start_menu customization?

I just wish I could get the background of my start menu black...you wouldn't think that would be so difficult...but it is...I have changed my background image to black with 0 transparency about 50 times and it does nothing.

I love wisbar lite too but i keep getting errors it works but the errors kinda get annoying. have you noticed that too or is it just me?
