Post An advice (unasked for) on Push Email/Contacts Live/Hotmail

I am really surprised that not many people use live/hotmail on there ppc. I love google/hate M$ but... When it comes to mobile product M$ beats G.

Live/Hotmail (rare link ! http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...oad-en-us.mspx) is REALLY convenient. With synchronization schedule "as items arrive" I still have 50-70% battery life left at the end of the day (with no2chem's rom). Did not notice much difference compared to manual sync.

Plus, you get contacts synchronization - somewhat less "pushy" - not sure, how often it syncs, but works great too. BTW, make sure to backup you contacts before installing the WLWM! MS is working on improving the live/hotmail, they are now full of AJAX and I'm looking forward for a calendar push.

With gmail trying to sync contacts is major PIA, even using 3-rd party software (and I tried many!).

If you are still unconvinced to try live/hotmail, sign up for SEVEN (http://community.seven.com/main.php) (free!)
it works as an intermediate between various POP/IMAP providers, making them work like push email - not sure how but it works. I was using it for gmail/my server's IMAP but decided to go with hotmail (they had frequent server outages this summer, I've heard they were fixing them...).

Also you can try setting up home exchange (with Exchange or Kerio Mail Server) to have real time push email on the PPC...

Good advice... I don't use Hotmail or Live, but it's good to know...

Re: An advice (unasked for) on Push Email/Contacts Live/Hotmail

I'd consider this but the problem is that Hotmail is such a cheeseball service IMO. I use them only for my junk mail (commercial) most of the time, and if I'd use them as a forwarding stop for my other email accounts I'd look like I was sending from there, which is a no go.

Well, hotmail came a long way since 8 years ago when I joined. But YMMV...

Re: An advice (unasked for) on Push Email/Contacts Live/Hotmail

Hotmail is such a spammed domain now that its not a good choice for regular email IMO. Also, a lot of companies/domains have hot mail blacklisted because of so much spam from them. Most of my domains have hotmail addy's blocked almost completely since the service is so unsecure (captcha is always being cracked). Not that gmail or other free email services are immune but hotmail takes the lead.
