Re: which browser do you prefer?

What build of Opera Mobile are people using that are happy with it?

I've tried 3 and all have issues:

1. Stock VZW build goes to a microscopic font in mobile view when rotated to landscape, and stays microscopic even when rotated back to portrait.

2. 15529 rotates without issue, but even in the biggest font size, is small enough to make clicking on hyperlinks hard without the stylus in mobile view.

3. 15233 did everything right, but started up on its own all the time, caused weird behavior, and made the phone hard reset twice.

Anybody got a build that works well in mobile view without other issues?

Re: which browser do you prefer?

With tweaks, and leaving it memory resident instead of closing it, Opera Mobil is nice.

Edit: Stock version sprint rom.

I just tap tap to zoom in/out with my finger. Some sites (cough ppcgeeks cough) could be a bit more finger friendly, but I can usually hit what I am aiming at.

Re: which browser do you prefer?

I think Opera Mobile is one of the most over-rated browsers, if not apps, on WM. At least it's up there with TF3D. With the right settings, NetFront blows it away for speed.

But for practical web browsing, Opera Mini is the best IMO. With Opera Mobile or NetFront, I am reluctant to try to open certain sites because they might take forever to render. With Mini, I know I can open even the largest site in ~30-60 seconds, so I find that I actually do MORE browsing. It doesn't have Flash yet, but I don't really miss it.

Skyfire runs down an already overtaxed battery.

Re: which browser do you prefer?

I like opera mini too, but it was much better on the mogul than it is on the touch pro. When I get on my phone to web browse, it is primarily for reading articles (cnn.com or news.google.com) or looking something up on google, so opera mini really shines for this purpose.

Without the extra hardware keys, I can't run it in full screen mode (it is nearly impossible to navigate with it on fullscreen mode with the TP). I still use it, but I don't like having to have that boarder on all 4 sides.

Re: which browser do you prefer?

Boy Genius Report says that there is a new version of Skyfire available.

Quote:
Skyfire today announced the availability of version 0.9 of its mobile browser which includes tons of tweaks and new functionality:
  • New start page - integrated RSS, Facebook, Twitter, etc
  • Improved readability - adaptive font sizes, contextual zoom, etc
  • Widescreen / hi-rez support - Handsets such as the Xperia X1, Samsung Omnia and Nokia N80 are now supported
  • Improved Superbar - improved auto-suggestions
  • Multimedia downloads - there is now an option to download audio or video files streamed by Skyfire
  • Updated page rendering - faster page loads, better zoom
  • Updated plugins - Flash 10, Silverlight 2.0 and newest Quicktime are all now supported
There are also a variety of version-specific improvements and tweaks such as better email link handling in Windows Mobile and improved battery life for the Symbian version. Conclusion: Current users, update ASAP. New users, catch up.
Skyfire

Edit/Update: I just downloaded and installed from Skyfire.com and the version I installed still says version 0.85....

Edit/Update #2, Boy Genius Report has removed the blog post!

Edit/Update #3, everything is back and the new release can be downloaded.

I think Opera Mobile so far, being that this is my first try with it, nice. Seems pretty stable, a little slower than IE sometimes, but overall good browsing experience. I find it's a little quirky when loading and double clicking at the same time to zoom in. Kinda annoying.

Do any of these other browsers have better features or performance compared to Opera Mobile? Is there a browser missing from this list?
bro u forget the UCWEB....now it is the best browser all using it from sony to htc user...except it doesnt have java....and for that i used opera 9.5 v1529
