Light sensor, There are mods for this to adjust the sensitivity. Search and you will find.

look for lumoswizard, I installed it and it seems to work well, adjusting the back light dependent on the ambient lighting.
Suposedly helps battery life.

i've been using g-light because it works great. Lets you easily configure it. I've tried lumos as well and liked it, but g-light works for me now.
