power button question

Is it possible that some custom roms deactivate the oem power on/off button on top of the Touch Pro? It seems that after I switched to Empirom the power button on top does not function. I haven't dropped my phone or abused or misused it in anyway. I really like the rom that I'm using but it seems there is no way to completely turn off or power down my phone. I did not want to remove the battery, can anyone advise me on this problem?

Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Re: power button question

it is possible to re-write in the registry what the button does, but pressing it should turn the screen off/on no matter what rom you use. if you have tried a soft reset I would reflash the rom (after stock)

Thanks orangekid for your response. Where in the registry could that change be made? I have total commander, would that allow me to get to that location?

Re: power button question

there is a cab floating around here called pushshut or something that can be installed. i don't have it (pulled sd card to swap files with pc yesterday after a few beers and can't for the life of me, find my card) and it applies to your power button allowing you to options of turning off device, resetting device, turning of screen (sleep) or hard resetting.

Thanks jp, I will try to use the search and find it in the forum. If in the meantime you do locate your card could you please post it here?

Thanks!

Re: power button question

I just found something called psShutXP as a cab file that supposedly gives 3 options mapped mapped to the power button; soft reset, hard reset or shut down. I will give this a try, hope it works! Thanks guys for your help and yes...SEARCH DOES WORK!!!! lololol

Re: power button question

Hey guys,
I installed it on my phone. I then opened it and pushed the turn off option, then phone powered off as expected. Now I can't turn it back on! When I hold down the power button, nothing happens! Is there a way to turn it back on or is this phone toast? Maybe I can do the TP2 swap? this would be my 3rd or 4th TP and I do have TEP

Re: power button question

maybe I have a faulty power switch....after pushing it for the 100th time, it finally powered on. I did slide open the keyboard and hit the button for it to work though....
