Arrow Just got upgraded to a TP2 from TP1! Want to 'dig in' and learn more!

Hey everyone,

I have been keeping a detailed thread-log about my 'tribulations' being forced into the Verizon Wireless provider from Alltel, and the resulting Touch Pro changes along the way here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...10#post1367710

Well, long story short... I ended up being a success story, getting my Alltel TP1 upgraded (WITH NO MONEY out of pocket) to a Verizon TP2! They already made the order and sent the FedEx tracking number; should be here Monday or Tuesday Dec 1st at the lastest!

My question to get things started before I really bury myself here in the TP2 sub-forum is What are all the improvements and differences between the TP1 and TP2?

I know the TP2 wasn't a monumental upgrade by any means, and still (for now?) runs WinMo 6.1 professional, has the same camera, and I'm guessing the same bloatware from Verizon etc... *but could anyone please jot down a list, or point me to a comparison chart somewhere? Thanks SO MUCH, and wish me luck as a new TP2 user! (Verizon forced me into a 2yr contract reneweal as a result of this upgrade, not sure if that was fair or ethical since it became a 'tit-for-tat' and I had multiple legitimate claims to a replacement phone and my phone was still under factory warranty... but my next phone will be the Droid or the HD2 in 2 years; but I'm sure things will change BIG TIME between now and then!)

Re: Just got upgraded to a TP2 from TP1! Want to 'dig in' and learn more!

Go to the sticky threads and read the FAQ's, then if you're interested in 6.5, go to the ROM's and read, then read more, then re-read, and you'll surely find a ROM that will do what you're looking for. I'm personally on MightyROM and it's smooth and heck with no issues to note, unless you d/l something that interferes with the ROM, as out of the box it runs great without problems., however there are plenty to choose from depending on what you would like. But first and foremost, read. You need to unlock the phone with the HSPL (in the thread) and then flash, but again, the most important thing is to READ.... and search if you have a question as the question more than likely has already been asked and addressed. Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks a lot! I am going to have to follow your tips to the letter... I have never done or attempted a custom ROM revamp; so it's going to be a big learning process. But I am very interested in using WinMo 6.5, and taking advantage of the great programming prowess of the members here!

Just make sure you are comfortable with what you're doing and if not, ask. If you have a question about a specific ROM, read the thread, search the thread and then ask, but read and search first. There is an enormous amount of support here, so enjoy!
