HTC Messaging (Sense 2.5) and Text Backups

Hey all,

I have been unsuccessfully trying to restore my texts onto a new ROM that has 1922 of Sense 2.5. The contacts that I have restores messages for never show up in the All Messages screen, nor do the messages show up when I open the thread, even though the total message count is accurate.

Not only that, but it makes the phone really unstable to boot. I basically have to hard reset to get the phone stable enough to use again after trying to restore my texts.

Anyone have any experience with this? I did some searching, but came up empty-handed.

My old trick was to disable threading, restore texts, enable threading, then let it build the threads again (otherwise the messages were out of order). I have tried to do this by installing Zenyee's CAB to revert back to 2.1 style HTC Messaging, but couldn't make that work either.

Using MyPhone instead of PIMBackup produces the same results.

do these texts have sentimental value to you? I dont' understand why you would want to restore your text messages back to your phone

It doesn't matter if you understand WHY, only if you understand HOW.

And if you do, please help me out!

Re: HTC Messaging (Sense 2.5) and Text Backups

I've experienced the exact same thing. Not only that but some ROMs i've tried with myphone seem to take forever to restore the msgs (1 at a time), while others move much faster (usually about 5 or 6 at a time while watching the status bar). As soon as I get them all downloaded it seems like the HTC messaging 2.5 app starts to choke hard. Wondering if its due to the raw amount of messages. Perhaps even if I didn't restore them once I built up enough if it'd start acting up again. I also have the same problem you describe with the threads not showing up properly.
