Re: Found something that makes the 3.5mm headphone jack a moot point!

I don't imagine that the older dongle-style connectors won't work... could be wrong of course, but I doubt it... so why is it a problem/moot point to now include 3.5mm jack? If anything, it satisfies both groups. Use your dongle if you like the play control adapters, and if not, off you go with your standard earbuds, etc. Personally, I will stick to using my phone as a phone and PDA and my Zune as an Music/Video player, because I prefer to not share my battery with both functions.

Re: Found something that makes the 3.5mm headphone jack a moot point!

If I recall, there was also the problem that the driver for this dongle did not work on all HTC phones. Worse yet, the features were only available when using certain applications, like WMP. That may have changed (or it may not have), but it was definitely an issue at one point.

I do like the dongle and the option of using whatever headphones I like. But having used extensions similar to this in the past, I know it can also lead to having a TON of extra cable, which I find annoying as well. Why? Because in order to be able to use the mic, you need it closer to your mouth (obviously) and then the regular line cord from your headset drapes all the way down before it goes back up to the headset.

It's not a bad idea. It's just not as perfect as it would initially seem.
