The Canadian Telis TP2 has both radios in it. THe CDMA side is of course locked to Telis and the GSM is probably locked to Vodaphone in Europe. Even if you could somehow unlock/unbrand the phone Sprint would never accept the ESN onto their network. Sprint is very tight about only allowing Sprint branded devices on their network.

CDMA is not locked to Telus, you simply have to find a company that is willing to put the ESN in their database. (Bell will not, and I don't think Sprint or Verizon do either)

Re: can i buy htc tp2 from att/tmo,and get to work on sprint
The Telus TP2 (and by extension probably any CDMA version of the TP2 including Sprint and Verizon) has both the CDMA and GSM chipsets. We have already confirmed that the Telus TP2 can be SIM unlocked and will also work as a phone on the regular GSM networks in North America (Rogers, AT&T etc.) But the 3G data has not been confirmed to work on Rogers or AT&T (yet?!) Stay tuned..
So if you want to get a TP2 from Sprint or Verizon and use it as a phone on AT&T, the answer is technically, yes you can. However as of right now, it seems like you wil not get 3G on AT&T. As well, if you purchase a TP2 from Sprint and want to use it on Verizon (or vice versa) you will NOT be able to do so, as Sprint and Verizon will not let each other's phones on their network (unless you know someone working for those companies willing to do it for you and risk losing their job). Yeah it's stupid, but that's the way it is, which is one of the reasons why people like SIM cards. |
