Basic HTML Editor

I am looking for a decent HTML/text editor for my Sprint Mogul, one that can handle Linux EOL-style files. I have had a couple of times now where I needed to tweak a website from the road. I tried:

1. ssh / pico - doesn't work because the cursor keys won't navigate around and there is no Ctrl key (that I know of).

2. TotalCommander and Notepad - doesn't work because of the EOL issue, the entire PHP file shows up on one line.

Something that transparently edits over an FTP connection (ala HTML-kit) would be great, but something that can edit a local file would be fine.

I have used Cedit by Logical Sky at logicalsky dot com (new users cant post urls!). Not positive about the Linux style end of lines, but it worked for me:

FTP to PPC-6700 using TotalCommander from a FreeBSD webserver
Edit using CEdit on PPC
FTP back to FreeBSD server.

CEdit does a good job of syntax coloring, at least for the PHP files I was editing. Not sure how it will work on WM6, my 6700 is running WM5. The latest update to the program resolved some issues with screen orientation. The author does offer a 15 day trial.

Good Luck!

you can also transfer file using SFTP which is more secure than FTP.

here is software (however not free)
zaSFTP: SFTP client for Smartphones and Pocket PC

www dot zatelnet dot com/zasftp/main.php (replace dot with . )

I have used this. Not sure for the PHP, and EOL files, and no ftp. But, for those with good basic requirements, it works well for me.

Thanks, looks interesting. I will try it out.

I have a purchased copy of this software, it works fairly well but downloads and uploads are a bit slow. I talked with the programmer and he said it was a side affect of the encryption overhead.
