Thanks for the clarification. Well the 6800 is atleast a possible upgrade for my 6700. I hear HTC and Samsung have some other stuff coming out this year, so maybe I'll wait for them to join the party, or at the very least for the 6800 to do, what it claims it will:

ie. Rev A.... GPS. ... and other things it will do? but doesn't yet?

Rev A will be enabled down the road - GPS - only through telenav - there is no upgrade to make it go from a half baked GPS to a full GPS. This was by request so Sprint and Verizon could try and get more money from you.

just ordered my 6800.. 7-10 days... backordered..

so the plan is to buy a bt gps adapter, WAIT TIL SOMEONE HACKS THE INTERNAL ADAPTER then ebay the external.. It seems like you guys were close with the 6700 but gave up when news hit about the 6800.

/Stick it to sprint; hack the gps.

GPS with Google Maps and external Bluetooth receiver

I have an external GPS receiver - actually the telenav unit. I used it with my 700p.

I connected it to my 6800 and set the com ports so that google maps and the bluetooth settings for the receiver were using the same com port.

I was able to connect and see where I was in real time using Google Maps.

This will work fine but I sure miss the voice prompts from telenav. I just hate paying for something that I hardly ever use.

Sprint is going to charge you $2 something a day to use the option. I plan on using it for an upcoming 4 day vacation in October.(hopefully it releases by then) I hardly need it as well, so this is a good option for me. Also, you don't have to renew your contract to add the $10/month plan.

Has anyone tried doing the steps at www dot mgmaps dot com like you can do on the normal java enabled phones? I know the Mogul has java installed just not sure if it would work.
