Radio - Using it for other signals?

I don't know much about the hardware inside the mogul when it comes to the radio receiver. How wide a band can it receive? If say i wanted to pick up my local radio stations, is there software out there? What about CB frequences?

Sorry if this comes up alot. Searching "radio" on these forums returns ALOT of threads non of which i thought were related.

Re: Radio - Using it for other signals?

Guess i thought up a stumper. I've found a few programs that seem to allow listening to "local radio stations".

Im hoping to track down something that'll let me keep tabs on local fire/police and medical channels so i can listen in when not at work. (i'll let you guess what that means).

Short answer, not possible. And the programs that allow listening to local radio stations stream them via the Internet
