Regular mini-usb cable fits

When I first got the Imagio I looked at the connector and realized it was proprietary and different from a normal mini-usb connector. I went on Ebay and ordered 2 data cables that were listed to work with the Imagio. I was puzzled when I got the package and the 2 cables were standard mini-usb cables. I was even more surprised when I realized they fit and work fine in the Imagio,

Re: Regular mini-usb cable fits

The first thing I noticed was the odd shaped connector on the cable and decide it was different that normal mini usb. Guess I'm the only dummy that did that lol

Re: Regular mini-usb cable fits

Well yes it is shaped different, but if you notice it's just a mini-USB with one corner pulled out and squared off, so a normal mini-USB will still fit as you mentioned. Otherwise it's no different.

Re: Regular mini-usb cable fits

Haha... yes, any normal Mini-USB connector will fit. The Ext-USB connector is pretty much an extended version of that standard, just with some extra pins for additional features.

I learned this the hard way when my friend and I were trying to find a USB cable for his touch diamond (before I'd ever used an HTC phone), we went around to lots of places looking for a USB cable before giving up, only to find out later that a basic cable works just as well.

It is a proprietary plug that is designed to fit a standard mini-plug usb also. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...agename=ExtUSB

Nope, I did the same thing. Went to ebay and paid $3.99 for the cable, when I had a bunch here already.
