Why does turning on 4G take so long?

Every time try to turn on 4G manually, it takes upwards of 30 seconds from selecting the check box and attaining a signal.

Is this normal? Does it usually take this long?

Mine takes just as long as well and I'm in Boston so its not technically up and running yet. I ran speedtest app and got 4.5 Mbps so I'm not sure about the "cap".

yeah the tech said it was 'capped' at those speeds for now. i barely got 3.0 in houston tx. and 2.0 here where i live in cc tx (speedtest app). i dunno, maybe its my phone.
