how do I set ringtone from internal?

I don't want to clog my device with ringtones (short on device space), how can I set ringtones for contacts from the internal storage instead of copying it over to device?

Any ring tone that is on the root of your internal storage (as opposed to being in a folder), should show up as a selection choice.
