How to clean up memory on the Diamond?

Ok guys please do not crucify me here, but I need help freeing up my memory on the device. The only program I have loaded on the phone was Adv. Config. Tool. I only have 18.6 mb out of 91.6. So here is what I need to know.

1. Which files can I delete to free up some space from the device memory?
2. Can you run programs from your internal memory?

Please guys help me please. thanks in advance

Yeah... the developers of this device were smoking something strong! Where did all that glorious memory go? My Dell Axim x51v has 256MB of RAM (192MB for Storage/49MB for programs). Why did they allocate so much for Program use and so little for Storage? (91MB Storage/214MB for Programs). I know I didn't install 85MB of stuff!!!

It makes no sense to me! I'm down to 5MB after installing only six applications to main memory.

This is almost a deal breaker for me and may force me to return the phone for a pro.

I have certain apps that will not run if they are not installed into the main memory. A few apps installed and I have almost run out of memory. As a matter of fact I had to uninstall one program because voice command would not restart after a soft reset because it said there was not enough memory available.

Unless there is a way to create a clean rom with the non-essential apps running on the flash memory as well as the cache for opera and sprint navigation, the phone is almost useless in its current configuration.

Like the previous poster asked, what was Sprint thinking?

Good grief, I am not a power user by any stretch, and I am down to 18.0. MB. I only have a few small programs installed and need to install a few more. I want to install a calendar program and Sprite backup.

I just may have to return it.

Hopefully one of the PPCGeek Techs might chime in to shed some light on this matter. Maryanne I think you can run some of your programs from your internal memory.

what about doing a hard reset? then do a soft reset before customizations? that is what i did on my cingular 8525 (hermes) and it worked great.

The first step you need to take, if you would like some help, is to list all of the software you have installed. Then we (the community) may be able to offer suggestions.

If you have been using Opera quite a bit it will cache all the info in the phone's storage memory. Go into Opera and clear the cache, this should open up more memory for you.
