As crude as it sounds, screw that. I don't have spare cash to throw around just to "help the local economy", and I suspect a lot of other people don't either. Like it or not, given the same specifications and quality, most people will buy based on price.

Re: Sale@Radio Shack *16gb microSD* $59
I still do this, often, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. I am about to go to my mail box to get 2 HDMI cables and a screen protector that I paid 12 bucks for and most of that was shipping. I wanted to support Radio Shack, but they wanted I think 15 bucks for a generic screen protector. But yes, we do need to support the local guys. You'd hate to need something and want to pick it up but cant b/c they were closed.

However, when the local markup is exorbitant - $59 vs $37 for a comparable product, there's no way in heck I'm going to make that distinction. $22 is a 59% markup. When it's that kind of markup I'd rather support a charity (I regularly do) than a local company. I realize you could make a distinction that a class 2 sandisk is not comparable to a class 2 Dane Elec - but in my prior experience with products from those 2 companies, I feel they're comparable. |
