That's weird... The mini USB port on the TP and the TP2 are the same... Weird.. Did you have the cable upside down?

Re: Attention all HTC users...

A few weeks back, one of my employees was whining about the USB port when he got his TP2. Complaining that he has to take his vehicle charging cord back because it wasn't the same shape. I laughed at him and threw a blackberry charger at him. Told him it was the same as his car charger and to try it. He insisted it doesn't fit. I told him it does - try it. He said he did.

O rly?!

I went over to his desk and plugged it into my TP2. Well whaddayaknow? My phone started charging. Now we all abuse him about this every few days. "I'm telling you, it doesn't fit!". Needless to say, guess he never saw this thread even though I sent him to this forum once he showed up with that TP2. Wouldn't have mattered though. We just would have found something else to bust his stones over.

Re: Attention all HTC users...

lol i read that like just before i got my touch pro, but one question. maybe its silly? how does the syncing work? i sync with activesync with a regular cord and it works just fine. i thought the extra pins were for specific htc cords such as the headphone adapter?

Re: Attention all HTC users...

Correct.

The plug has an odd shape for the other non-standard adapters. Yes, HTC 'enhanced' it to allow video and audio output when the special plug is inserted. Standard mini USB cables work just fine as expected for sync and charging.

Well, being new to the TP, the ORIGINAL cable might LOOK like a mini usb BUT it has a cut corner... To the novice it would appear to be a totally different cable..
"I" for one appreciate this bit of information.

Seriously. Do people NOT look at the included charger? The end of it IS a standard mini USB connector. The manual (or is the picture foldout?) shows you where to plug it in. After working out how to open the phone and insert a battery, guessing the right orientation to plug the charger in should be easy.

Don't know where you got your phone but MY TP's out of the box charger does NOT have a standard mini usb on the end. It's an HTC "cut corner" plug. Looks NOTHING like a mini usb... SERIOUSLY! I've got it in my hand right now...
