Using your email to send pics (Picture Mail)
Has anybody actually used email to send pic mail to other cell phones. I've been playing around with this all day and i got of course sprint to work (number@pm.sprint.com) and att (theirnumber@mms.att.net) and cricket which has coverage where I live (1234567890@mms.myCricket.com) but for some reason tmobile work mb 1 out of 10 (1234567890@tmomail.net) and verizon wont work at all (mobilenumber@vzwpix.com). Anyone want to help me out with them 2. Do I have the right email for them to go directly to the phone?

try 10digit#@teleflip.com

IMO the bigger problem w/ this is I have no idea who most of my contacts carriers are. Sure, I know my close friends, but "close friends" only count for about 10% of my contacts in my phone. Most are work associates and yes, I do pic text them a lot.
I found this website (http://freesms.1888usa.com/revcell.htm) that you can enter a phone number to ID what carrier was the original owner of the number, but like the website says, "...if the wireless customer ported the number to a new wireless carrier, this information will NOT be accurate." I haven't tried xmentalx's suggestion (teleflip), but I'd be a little weary submitting my associates phone numbers to an unknown source. They could be logging every phone number that goes thru their system and either using it for personal marketing or selling it to 3rd party marketing firms. I know, call me paranoid... I guess until the MMS issue gets resolved, this might be the closest resolution we have. |
alt. to MMS
Anyone have any alternates to MMS? well anyone know of a service where I can just put in a number and it will send the picture? its werid because on my home computer I can go on sprint and send picture mail. but on my cell I can't access that part of the site to do that.
So if the MMS patch is down then how about someone make a patch to access the sprint picture mail site like it would for a home computer? maybe the long way to send it but it will still work. This new skyfire brower that coming out looks like it can access full sites so why can't we make IE do it or anyone try opera to see if it will work? |
try just emailing the pic to people...
|
You can send them as an attachment, in order for other cellphones to receive them, read this...

?
What about Metro PCS users?
|
cingular
that one won't work since they combined with AT&T. The correct one is ##########@mms.att.net
No disrespect though. |
That's why I provided the link to the original source... there's more info and providers there ;)

Metro
Anybody know for Metro PCS users?

I saw above that some of you may be having issues when e-mailing pics to T-mobile and I have researched this and was explained that the way to e-mail T-mobile customers is 111111111@tmomail.com when e-mailing pictures to T-mobile customers and not 1234567890@tmomail.net so you may want to try this out because it worked for me everytime. They blocked out the Sprint TV also but the old Sprint TV hack is working on the Mogul again also so I think it is due to the new patch might be adding a pic mail option to it is what I have heard when talking to IT from sprint so we will have to see that would be nice to have REV A and Sprint TV, Pic Mail and GPS like they are saying. It would be nice if they added the Threaded Text to the package also lol. Hope this helps above and I dont recommend to delete the thread for Pic mail cause it is more than likely a temp stop while updating the network but I will continue to look for a fix also.

How do you send pictures to Alltell phones?
|
will emailing work for video as well or is it just for pics?
|
anything for nextel or boost
|
Does anyone else have issues sending to verizon customers? I've tried (phone#)@vzwpix.com and I always get a 'Delivery Status Notification (Failure)' bounced back to my email address. I've tried gmail, yahoo, hotmail...all with no luck. It says there is banned text in the header, even if I don't include any text in the message...
Thanks in advance for the help! |
I think it will be alot easier for you to email the picture to yourself xxx-xxx-xxxx@pm.sprint.com, and once you recieve it open it up and just forward it. if you do it this way all you do is enter the recipeints phone number.
|
This works really well. I set up a contact called "PicMail" that's nothing more than my10digits@pm.sprint.com . Then I email a photo from an old aol address to this contact. It arrives as a clickable link in a text message (that is, like a standard Picture Mail on Sprint phones). When I click it, there's a link to "Forward" it. I click that, and then I type in the recipient's phone number (you don't need to know what service they're on). The photo arrives on a Verizon phone EXACTLY like a standard picture mail, and it says correctly that it's from me so they can reply by text message.

Incidentally, I've noticed that many people feel like this is "Sprint being Sprint" and that they're crazy for disabling such a simple feature. But there must be something more going on. It's not widely known that the iPhone has EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE. There's no standard PictureMail sending feature on the iPhone. So I suspect that there's a good business reason why these companies are trying to wean their customers off the PictureMail habit. There's a big difference in the way this has been received by the iPhone community. If you visit their forums, you'll see comments like "oh that's ok!! The iPhone does email great!! So you just email your pictures to 10digit-blah-blah-blah and there's no problem!! So the iPhone is still perfect!!" As many of us have discovered, emailing to those addresses is NOT a satisfactory solution. Luckily, the forwarding method works, though I wouldn't be surprised if that gets blocked at some point, too. |
Here's an example of similar troubles involving the iPhone:
http://forums.ilounge.com/archive/in.../t-200180.html These users are not as "ecstatic" as some others. And you'll notice in the thread that many of them are having the same problems reported here. That is, sending PictureMail by emailing to 10digits@service-etc does NOT work reliably, especially with Verizon recipients. It's dramatically slower than "standard" PictureMail. Pictures are frequently bounced with no reasonable explanation. You need to know the recipient's service provider. And more. I've now tested a dozen pictures using "Picture Forwarding" and it seems to work perfectly. It's a little more work than I would like, but not a show-stopper. See my earlier messages in this thread. |
well what i do is send tha pic to my sprint.pm account then when i recive the pic on my mogul i open tha pic and then forward it to any number i chose to its a long stupid process but it gets tha job done hope this help even tho we wish it was an alternative but a sprint guy said i can send a pic by putting in there number.pm.sprint or something like that which sux sux major balls............. peace pimp juice

Sprint MMS Workaround (For Now)
In case any of you don't know already these instructions should help to anyone who needs to send pictures to other carriers as well. Yes, it's sort of a pain, but it works for now.
Step 1. Set up an email address, for outgoing mail put smtp.sprint.com and check the require authentication box. set it for 15 minutes or to your liking. Step 2. Find out the carriers from your contacts. (sprint, verizon, t-mobile, etc...) The hard way Ive been able to figure out only 4 of the major carriers email format, which in miami there is only 5 ... here they go.. Sprint: 10digitphone#@pm.sprint.com Verizon: 10digitphone#@vzwpix.com Cingular: 10digitphone#@mms.mycingular.com T-Mobile: 10digitphone#@tmomail.net Alltel: 10digitphone#@message.alltel.com Step 3. compose a new email, send it to your contact which has the following format and when is sent, it will either be sent in 15 minutes or press right soft key, send/receive to send it right away... the user will receive it the same way they always have... |
Or If Ur On Sprint Which We're The Only Fargin Ppl That Can't Do Mms, Just Email It To Urself & Then All U Have To Do Is Forward To The Number Of Whom U Want It To Go To Keeping U From Trying To Remember Who's On What Carrier & The Address As Well...

This might help. i set up a hotmail acct and sink with windows live. it will automatically set up a acct on your message inbox. Then set up a new contact name Picmail. Then put this in the email slot of contant (your number)@pm.sprint.com. now choose the pic u want a hit send. Pick the widow live acct send to contact name Picmail and hit send. Once u recieve the pic open and view media. then u should get a link that say foward. Type in number u want to send a bam it done. Hope this help.
