Memory is quickly diminishing on my XV 6700

I've been using my XV6700 quite satisfactorily for the last two years, but all of a sudden I'm experiencing something new.
The memory is quickly diminishing.
I haven't done anything different or our of the ordinary, but it lost about 1 MB of the precious little memory left.
I've cleared the cell phone of needless files using SK tools, but it didn't reclaim much memory back.
The size of my PIM file hasn't changed much either, so I know it's not the PIM data that's causing memory drain.

I have system backups from before the memory was decreased, so I can always go back, but I want to make sure I find out the cause.
Where should I look?
