Re: pdanet usbmodem?

Try this:
8.To get ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) working properly:
HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing
Delete this string: Extension - IcsHelper.dll

No need to soft reset. Open up Internet Connection Sharing and you should be on your way. I've been doing it this way since I got my 800w 3-4 months ago.

It was found in this thread here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=41241

Oh, and a search should have revealed several threads for this...

Re: pdanet usbmodem?

OR..u cud try this on post 148
addition: after install, sync phone with pc(activesync or WMDC)/click on internet sharing icon in programs/click on connect---fone should display "checking usb connections"...then "connected".
After that, launch web browser and enjoy...don't remember if this has been stated yet, but i strongly advise u have an unlimited data plan first before tethering

another addition: if further info is needed, just PM me

i s'pose i should double check but you are using an 800w, correct? I'm assuming since you posted in the 800w forum then thats what you have.
the method i recommended above is completely free, even the registry editing software to delete the icshelper.dll from the registry is free. no need to pay for this functionality, plus it's guaranteed to work on the 800w.

PDANET, doesn't seem to support VPN connections I tried connecting to my work Cisco VPN and it would not work. I even had the fully licensed copy so it's not a Trial version issue.

I did the registry edit thing where using a registry editor I used Total Commander and went to HKLM\COMM\InternetSharing\ then deleted the Extensions key then waited 5 minutes. took out the battery put it back in then when the phone came up connected to IE -website then plugged in my USB cable and turned on Internet sharing. I was able to easily connect to my Work VPN at decent speed. This is free and a lot of people have done it.

My last phone was cheapo Motorola and I could use their software to connect. But this is good too.

Quick question, does WM wifirouter on a Treo 800w allow you to use wifi to connect? (Don't be too sarcastic; I know it sounds like a dumb question from the name I'd say yes.) Just wondering.
