Smooth .AVI playback

I finally found a media player that can play .AVI without all the choppy playback.

http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=smartmovie

I only used the player for the wm6 device by installing the .cab
I have not installed the pc based converter yet and I dont think I will need it.

Every movie I tried on the TCPMP was a nightmare. I always had to convert to .3gp or .mp4 to get it running smoothly but with this player I get smooth playback with any .AVI movie regardles of the size or the sh**y video drivers on the touch.

The only problem. its not free but it has a trial so you can judge for yourselves.

Re: Smooth .AVI playback

Have you tried Coreplayer? It's from the guys that made TCPMP but it's much better. I stop converting my files with this one. I just drop in the .avi file. It also plays h.264 files with AC3 sound. If you've tried it could you compare the two programs. Thanks. I'm always looking to upgrade.

I have tried the core player and
I got the same results as the tcpmp
slugish playback with AVI movies.

I definetly think this player is
superior playing .AVI

Re: Smooth .AVI playback

tcpmp plays .avi's great‚ the key is to change the video playback mode to something besides direct draw. I use GDI and it does a great job of playing full length movies in avi format.

I totally agree. TCPMP worked great for me. But the Coreplayer was a quantum leap. I watch about three movies and six tv episodes per week on phone with no problem. Since this other player is free, I will download a give it try. Thanks for the info.
