Workaround for Dialing Letters on the Q

Thanks to BrandonJG at SU.com for this trick...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote:
This is a way to make it easier to dial phone numbers with letters in them. Such as 1800FLOWERS or 1800SPRINT1

This "hack" will replace the yellow sprint banner across the top of the dial screen with this image instead:

I found this idea on qusers.com and decided to mod it for the sprint banner that we have. Thought some of you might be interested in it as well.

You will need a registry editor. I personally use TotalCommander which is available for free from http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm
as always, exercise extreme caution when changing registry settings.

-You will need to save this (see attachment!) image to \Windows on the Q.

-Then open your registry editor and navigate to \\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCdial

-Edit the "BannerImage" value. The existing value should be something like
"\windows\sprint_banner.gif" you will need to change it to "\windows\sprint_banner_with_digits.gif"

-Save the change, close the registry editor and reboot the phone.

-Thats it! Go back to the dialer and dial a number
