Difference between WM5 and WM5 smartphone

I was wondering if somone could break this down for me? I also wanted to know why everything I use on my 6700 wont work on the Q? What are some of the things I will be missing?

Some apps work, but I've found that even if you trick some into running, they don't run great or at all

It's a shame, I really like Pocket IRC. If that and Palm's SMS threading were on this, I'd be the happiest camper.
