Screen blinks on and off during calls

My TP2 has an annoying habit of randomly turning off the screen during calls.

Note that this isn't because I'm tripping the proximity sensor. As an example, I will call some customer service line, take the phone away from my head to dial in menu options, and the screen turns off at random intervals while I'm using it. I essentially mash as many numbers as I can, hit the power button to turn the screen back on, start mashing again, and repeat.

This doesn't happen at any other time except for during calls. Little help?

I'm running Sprint stock 6.5. Thanks!

Try a hard reset. Maybe you have an app acting up.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I've tried hard resetting several times. Still happens, even if I don't do any hacks or tweaks.

Listing all the things you have tried would be very helpful.

Re: Screen blinks on and off during calls

If it is still acting up after a hard reset, you are likely experiencing a hardware issue. Maybe a loose ribbon cable? Or?

Re: Screen blinks on and off during calls

Sometimes you may still be tripping the proximity sensor even though you might not be aware of it. I see this happen even on my HD7.

Either way though the stock 6.5 ROM is extremely buggy so you may be better off by even flashing a custom ROM or the original 6.1 stock ROM.

To anyone considering it, I strongly recomend flashing a nand android build to their tp2. Windows mobile was quite the o.s. back in the day, but with the lack of current apps and games, its d.o.a.
I use omg.b rom from xda developers. Gingerbread android with full market. Can't beat that with 2 sticks.
Try an sd card build first to see if you like it, but I assure you, internal builds run like buttah. Smoove.

Re: Screen blinks on and off during calls

Thanks for the heads up Austin, maybe I will try an internal build on one of these here. I do like the dual boot feature, but an android rom maybe cool too! I will check that out!

Re: Screen blinks on and off during calls

Thanks for all the replies. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem. I'll swap it out and then look at the idea of a custom ROM.
