And people wonder why viruses exist...

It'll be interesting to see the fallout when people that can "code" start to angrily write exploits that doesn't unlock or root a phone anymore for the end users, but charges up a sh!t storm on your bill instead. When the carriers tell you to pay up or else, class action counter-suits form saying that, the carrier explicitly prevented you from protecting yourself by, a.) preventing you from uninstalling the virus (lack of root) or b.) flashing a more up-to-date kernel, and c.) did nothing to help since they refuse to make upgrades as fast as Google patches the Android OS that may have block the exploit in the first place.

And we thought fragmentation was bad! Because we all know that Google thoroughly checks ALL submitted apps to verify they do what is claimed and there is no history of viruses EVER in the Google market to date--rrrright?

I don't buy it, I don't see how it's even remotely possible to prevent someone from making calls if they don't have some app installed when we can modify the kernel to say or do whatever we want, as long as they keep releasing source we should be fine/

Nothing impossible.. It is possible to detect an uncertified system on cellular carrier level if they receive assistance from the source i.e. Google Inc. The information states Google's beef is malicious applications and software, not rooting,software modifications etc. Cellular carriers are standing on the words "theft & stealing" of services. Services being accessing data, data from using a device as mobile hotspot or modem. Apple probably lost their court case due the angle of the defense. New legal ideas for legal debates are discovered when the unfortunates lose in court.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong or.
