Newbie coming from WM6.5 to WP7

Hello,

I still use a Sprint Touch and may be going to the the Trophy although I'm hugely concerned about the battery life. I do a number of things when I first set up my WM phone after a firmware update so here are the things I'd like to do and I'd like some pointers on what to do for WP7. Some may not be necessary and some may not be possible - any info would be helpful.

1 - hack it so I can tether it.

2 - install MS Voice Command so I can dial by name and number and assign it to the camera function.

3 - install bing so I can get turn by turn directions

4 - customize the home screen - I need my calendar apointments listed for the next 2 days - I use SPB Pocket plus for this.

5 - put a shortcut to search on my homescreen so I can search my phone for any document or contact or email.

6 - install a flashligh app such as VJcandella -make a shortcut on the home page.

7 - customize the ringer to an oldphone recording I made which is louder than any of the defaults.

Thanks for any tips you can provide.

Re: Newbie coming from WM6.5 to WP7

1. I saw a hack in wpcentral for the focus. Not sure if it'll work on HTC devices but its worth a try.

2. It includes tellme just press and hold the start button to tell it what u want to do.

3.it includes telenav which is a tbt navigation GPS app. Not sure if the bing search has tbt but it does have directions .

4. In agenda view in the calendar tab u can see appointments as far as the eye can see.
5.U can pin anything u want to the start screen

6.Marketplace has a few flashlight apps including one by HTC which is free

7. Wp7 @ this moment doesn't support custom ringtones but the stock ones seem pretty loud to me

I know there was a discussion on this over on XDA. IF you unlock your phone there is a app to put custom ringtones on. Now sure if this will do what you need but it should.

You DO have to unlock your phone to do a lot of the stuff you ask...

Wirelessly posted (WP7 Beta Tester: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows Phone OS 7.0; Trident/3.1; IEMobile/7.0; HTC; HD7))

Bing doesn't have turn by turn yet, just telenav.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

Elcapo - thanks for all the details!

Is the agenda view on the home page?

What I need most on the home page is -
number of missed calls
number of text messages
number of emails - preferably seperated by accounts
my next 5 appointments and times/dates

spb software lets me do this with WP6.5 - I don't think you can put an overlay on WP7 home pages yet so I'm curious what I can do with WP7.

it shows all of that but the calendar tile only shows the most recent appointment but if u press on that it goes to agenda view which shows all the appointments that u have.
