Heres a really impressive and snappy rom done by Hero_Over I found at BakedSnackShack.com. Very easy install and Stupid fast!
This is where most developers try to say fancy stuff about their goals and such. I want this ROM to be fast and have awesome battery and some coolio features too.


IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE APPS2SD YOU MUST FORMAT A 512MB+ EXT4 PARTITION WITH CLOCKWORK. WHEN YOU FORMAT YOUR SDCARD WILL LOSE ALL DATA SO PLEASE BACKUP!

Here is what this ROM contains:
rooted with su and busybox
quickened a ton of apks/frameworks
transparent notification pulldown
themed launcher + touchwiz launcher
added launcher choic on first boot (adw launcher/launcher/touchwiz)
removes alot of sprint/samsung bloat apps (dumb apks)
using my custom kernel which is overclocked to 1.2 or 1.4ghz
kernel adds 600mhx step to avoid overaggressive changes
undervolted cpu
integrated bfq scheduler
using the hero governor on kernel (heavily modded conservative)
slight edits to bfq for speed
circle battery indicator
removed carrier spyware aka iqmsd
added wifi tether to sdcard/app
config edits on kernel for speed/battery
heavy dalvik vm tweaks
270 degree rotation
removed ugly icon backgrounds
almost 100% of the ugly blue is gone
kernel and rom based on di18 source
eliminated app shutdown / startup lag
kernel tricks for faster boot
increased battery while on wifi
use overclock widget to overclock
slight kernel tweaks to video recording for faster framerate
zipaligned all apks and did heavy manual modding for speed/battery
removed: mediahub/drm/sprint tv/
added to sdcard
phone now boots and runs at 1000mhz with stock settings (use overclock widget to adjust to your liking)
try to use manual brightness. as voodoo color fix can act odd with auto brightness

ROM INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS! (FOR A2SD!) (REMEMBER TO BACK UP EVERYTHING FROM YOUR SDCARD TO YOUR PC AS IT WILL BE WIPED)
Make sure your phone is rooted and you have clockwork recovery installed
boot into clockwork recovery
select wipe data and click yes
then select wipe cache and click yes
now go to the option "patition sd"
select 512mb for the ext size
select OM for the swap partition
Now flash the ROM by going to install zip
then choose zip from sdcard and select the ROM
reboot and install AndroidTerm.apk from the my files app
open terminal and type su and then press enter (looks like this: $ su (press enter) )
accept superuser permissions
then type "a2sd" and press enter
reboot and you now have A2SD!

ROM INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS! (WITHOUT A2SD)
Make sure your phone is rooted and you have clockwork recovery installed
boot into clockwork recovery
select wipe data and click yes
then select wipe cache and click yes
Now flash the ROM by going to install zip
then choose zip from sdcard and select the ROM
reboot and you are good to go!

To replace the new youtube with the old one( do this if you are having problems with the new one)

1. install AndroidTerm.apk from the my files app (located in app folder)
2. open terminal and type su and then press enter (looks like this: $ su (press enter) )
3. accept superuser permissions
4. type oldtube.sh and press enter (looks like this: # oldtube.sh (press enter)
5. you now have the older evo version of youtube instead of the "gingerbread" one

To remove 270 degree rotation (do this only if you dont like 270 degree rotation)

1. install AndroidTerm.apk from the my files app (located in app folder)
2. open terminal and type su and then press enter (looks like this: $ su (press enter) )
3. accept superuser permissions
4. type 180forme.sh and press enter (looks like this: # 180forme.sh (press enter)
5. now reboot your phone by holding power and selecting reboot
6. you now have 180 degree rotation instead of 270!

To remove TouchWiz/Myfiles/Memo

install AndroidTerm.apk from the my files app (located in app folder)
open terminal and type su and then press enter (looks like this: $ su (press enter) )
accept superuser permissions
type removewiz.sh and press enter (looks like this: # removewiz.sh (press enter)
now reboot your phone by holding power and selecting reboot
you now have gotten rid of ugly touchwiz!

I just installed this. looks nice and I followed instructions to the letter. It's works but I have lost root access through adb or terminal. Anything I type in adb shell returns "permission denied" including the "whoami" command. "whoami" used to return, "root". Now it's "permission denied". I wonder if I can get root access back without wiping the whole thing and starting over.....

Did you definitely wipe everything per install instructions?
boot into clockwork
wipe data/cache/dalvik (Advanced settings)


You can try it again, it really only takes a couple minutes.

Currently working perfectly on my Epic.
Unbelievable battery life.

yep, i wipe each 2 times. i had no issues with root loading this rom. its very fast and theres tons of skinning.

Uh oh. I just realized that I am using 1.2 not 1.3. I guess I need to pay my 5 bucks...... I guess I'll wipe the thing clean and start over. Ugh.

it looks like 1.3 is the overclocked kernal, my version says 1.2 also but it is 1.3. im just guessing but 1.3 is what kernel is overclocked to but im sure im on version 1.3

Let me explain..as of version 1.2, it was overclocked to 1.3ghz...1.3 is the latest version yes.

Now let me explain how it works...from what I read its 100% free..but people who donate get to experiment with the beta 1-5 days and support before everyone else.

That said, someone else can leak the copy as well and it should be legal since its under GPL lol
