HTC Sense updated version

My Imagio screen has gone haywire and Verizon is sending a new (refurbished) Imagio. Before I install all of my third party programs should I install a new version of HTC Sense? If so what version is the latest and what benefits does it have over 2.0 (which I think is what is running now).
