Re: Bing App updated (V. 5.1.2010.6280)
Have they done anything different other than making it play better with those devices?
I have an intrepid and I need to do the hack to make it work so don't realy want to install a new version unless it is worth it. Thanks Terry |

Re: Bing App updated (V. 5.1.2010.6280)
From the thread @WMExperts:
It looks like Microsoft has updated Bing for Windows Phones, though what the update provides isn’t immediately clear. Microsoft’s download site shows the "Date Published" as 7/1/2010. My Bing version went from 5.1.2010.5040 to 5.1.2010.6280. The last update we saw to Bing was the big one back in May that gave us turn-by-turn navigation with voice prompts. Grab the download from Microsoft, and let us know if you see anything new and improved." In my case, had v5.1.2010.5040--->and it did not 'silent update' to v.5.1.2010.6280 (I had got the Bing.cab from another forum thread...) And had to manually force a successful installation... Then I reviewed this also @WMExpert thread: Well, my version of Bing was at 5020 and was not "silently upgraded." I had to go through the Marketplace to upgrade it, which the update was available from. I haven't seen anything new with it, in terms of features. 'If you installed it on your device through marketplace you will automatically get the update through marketplace the next time you open the marketplace app after an update is available.' So I then went to MS Market Place and installed it from there... Now lets see how stable it is...lol

Re: Bing App updated (V. 5.1.2010.6280)
actually, if you stay on the 5.1.2010.5040 version of bing for a few seconds, a screen pops up asking if you want to update.

Re: Bing App updated (V. 5.1.2010.6280)
I have an HTC Mogul from Sprint. When I run the old version, after a few seconds, it pops up to tell me that "Sorry, the Bing application isn't supported on this device. Go to m.bing.com in your browser instead?" (yes/no). Regardless of the selection, the app closes. It won't let me use the version that worked just fine a week ago!
If I try to install the new version from m.bing.com/download it tells me my resolution isn't sufficient to run the new version. Has anyone else run into this? I loved that app. I didn't want to replace my phone yet... |

Re: Bing App updated (V. 5.1.2010.6280)
The old version with the hack works just fine on my Intrepid, but the new version does exactly what cwhogan said, since the intrepid is a WMPPC running 6.5 I can't believe that Microsoft has abandoned it, and it is just out, you would think they would have a version that would work on lower res PDAs...wouldn't you?

Re: Bing App updated (V. 5.1.2010.6280)
I determined Bing causes memory leaks or runs services on my TP2 even when its not running. I wonder if the latest version does. Bottom line I loose 10-20 mb of free ram after installing bing.

Re: Bing App updated (V. 5.1.2010.6280)
Well, I went on a vacation to South Cali and used Bing as my navigation system. I have to say, it is a well improved app. My phone did not crash once, the system worked as it should, and i got to all my places. I did see an increase in memory use but I guess it would be expected if we are using internet and gps at the same time; nothing Clear Ram could not take care of.
