Comparison: 8gb Class 2 vs. 16gb Class 2

Ok, so I jumped on that $20 deal the other week for the Sandisk 16gb Class 2 card. There were a lot of people brushing it off since it was only a class two card. I bought it for the space to $ ratio being so great, figuring it'd at least be as good as the stock card.

All in all I'm very glad I bought the card, the initial results seem very good. It seems to have both higher sequential and quicker random access times.

I used HD Tune, if you'd like additional runs put on both cards I'd be happy to do so for a limited time.

32k run:

8gb card

16gb card

64k run:

8gb card

16gb card

128k run:

8gb card

16gb card

256k run:

8gb run

16gb run

Re: Comparison: 8gb Class 2 vs. 16gb Class 2

I am enjoying mine as well. Though I didn't bother myself much on it's performance, it has been working out great. Now it's good to see some solid numbers put out.

Thanks,

-CC

EDIT: follow-up, I've recorded more pictures, some videos, played some back, music, copying, moving, loading apps, all working as expected, if not slightly better than expected.. still happy with my purchase.

Mine is "Made in China", these usually come in bulk packs. so really more packaging understandably would have added to the price.

Re: Comparison: 8gb Class 2 vs. 16gb Class 2

Just for posterity I'll post that both cards are Sandisk branded. I'm assuming the 16gb card is the same as this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820171386

but as my card came in nothing but a padded envelope due to being a cheap daily sale I can't say for sure.

If anyone would like to run the same tests on their cards I'll reconfigure this thread to be a comparison between any and all micro sdhc cards.

Thanks for the comparison, I was an early adopter...so I paid a fortune for mine =*( oh well, still going great even after I initially bought it for my TP launch
