Question about HD2

Hello

I just got my HD2 from t-mobile. It looks nice. I heard from various people, the original ROM causes some issues. I have to say, the phone froze on me today once. I hear the ROM needs to be re-flashed to fix the issue.

I have few questions:

1. What is the best ROM to flash the phone with?
2. How the SPB shell (5.0 ?) works on this phone?
3. Just read t-mobile is having their phones shipped with Windows Mobile 7. Mine is still at ver. 6.5 . Will there be any issue upgrading the phone to 7?

Like to know were you read that because the HD2 will never see WinMo7 in an official form. Maybe ported down the road but nothing from HTC or T-Mobile.

As for what ROM that is all personal preference. I tend to run NRG roms but change up and try others from time to time.

Hello, regarding the Standard Tmobile WM 6.5 Rom it is very stable. Many power users agree its one of the better stock roms out there for new HTC WM devices. As far as your occasional lockup or bug thats quite normal due to levels of use and things of that nature. Try this little fix it will improve your HD2's performance.

I have not heard anything regarding a re-flash to fix any issue and dont think Tmobile would advise that either. Now, if someone suggested to you that you try a custom rom to possibly make your user experience better or more enjoyable then that makes more sense to me.

Regarding your questions, first there are no best roms as it all depends on what you want. Some people want only performance, some eye candy, some both etc, and so on. So it all depends on you, but here is a great list of roms we trust to work properly on our device thus far. Keep in mind our device is very new and as time goes on we will see an even wider selection of roms to choose from.

These are my favorite so far, just keep in mind its only my opinion. I like a smooth combination of speed/performance and eye candy.

Regarding SPB shell 5.0, I have not used this new version yet. I have used SPB shell 3.5, and Im sure the HD2 should not have a problem with this. I believe one of the cooks in the master list link I provided has a rom with version 5.0 already cooked in.

Finally regarding Tmobile phones shipping with Windows Phone 7, sorry to say but that just cant be the case. The HD2 is a brand device running WM6.5. There are no official Tmobile HD2s running 7. Keep in mind I said official. I doubt that the Tmobile will ever get an official WM7 rom as Microsoft has already said no. But you never know for sure, however we can hope that some flavor of WP7 will hit the HD2 in some form or other in the future (probebly from one of our great chefs or some one at xda-dev). But for now its a no go.

I know the original rumor was that the HD2 would be upgradable to WP7 but that was killed soon after. I was pretty upset but not as upset as this guy.

Is there a way to backup the current, original ROM?

Also, I made a little goof and erased the flash and lost many files, that came with the phone. Is there a possibility to get it back from somewhere?
