How Do You Use WModem with Windows 7??

Hi All,

I have an Sprint PPC 6700 running WM 5.0 and have been using WModem to tether to my laptop. I was using a Windows XP Professional laptop, and tethering worked fine, but had to upgrade to another laptop using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. I looked on the internet for Windows 7 WModem drivers and dialer software but did not find any so I tried using the same WModem drivers and WModem dialer application I used on the XP machine. I was able to load the WModem drive on the Windows 7 machine, but when I launched the WModem dialer application, it says "No Modem Found". Is there a newer WModem driver and WModem dialer application for Windows 7 and if there is where can I find it?

Thanks,
Steve

Does anyone else have another suggestion? I'm sure someone else must be using a PPC6700 as a modem with Windows 7.

Thanks,
John

Actually first thing first..did you install the Vista 32 bit drivers for the phone itself? The phone needs drivers too...

Hi gTen,

Thanks very much for the advise and earlier link to the Visa drivers. I read thru a few pages of the link you provided and found some addtional instructions that really helped. Turned out the original XP drivers I used on my old XP laptop worked fine on the new Windows 7 netbook, it was the dialer applications that was the problem. I ended up creating a dial-up connection and entered #777 (I use Sprint) for the phone number and it worked great.

Thanks again for your help!!!!

Steve
