Alltel Vogue on Verizon

Hi everyone,
I have a question....I am a Verizon Wireless customer and I purchased an HTC Vogue (xv6900) from eBay. The device is Alltel branded and I wanted to activate it on my line. When I went to do so I was told by 3 separate reps that it could not be done because I was a Verizon plan and only Alltel phones could be on Alltel. They said this is because they are trying to get everyone off of Alltel devices. Is there any way I can flash this phone or hack it so that Verizon will activate it on my account? I have already unlocked it and put a 6.5 rom on it. I was thinking I could just dial *228 and use option 3 since I am in a coverage area but the automated system doesn't give me an option 3 and when I push it anyway it says "that is an invalid entry" Is there anyway I can get this little guy on verizon?
Thanks so much!

Well, it will certainly work on verizon's network but the trick is talking to the right person that will add your device to their network. I believe Alltel is being absorbed by Verizon so maybe if you told them this was a relative's device that was on Alltel and they don't want to get another phone to use it with Verizon. I really think it depends on who you talk to at Verizon. Be really nice.

I would say the same as horndoctor, you just need to keep calling till you get a rep willing to work it for you. You can alway throw it back in their face that they advertise it on the website.

Can I use an existing phone with Verizon Wireless service?

We can activate your existing phone provided it is compatible with our CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) digital network.

Although a wireless phone may be compatible with our network, we cannot guarantee the equipment's performance nor can we honor the manufacturer's warranty on wireless phones not purchased through Verizon Wireless or its authorized agents.

If you are not sure if your handset is compatible, please call our Verizon Wireless Sales Department at (800) 2-JOIN-IN (256-4646), or visit one of our Verizon Wireless stores.

If your handset is not compatible with our network, discounts are available on new equipment at the point of sale with a new activation.
So point that out to them. We all know it's compatible and they are liars trying to sale a new device.

Re: Alltel Vogue on Verizon

It is definately about talking to the right representative. I talked to 10 reps and 9 of them told me that no other CDMA phone could be activated on their network (Bull**** according to the site as pointed out earlier). The 10th said that alltel would work with no problems and other networks might need some tweaking to get to work properly. So as others have said just keep trying till you get the right rep to talk to, Lots of calls but should pay out in the end. Hope you find this useful.

Re: Alltel Vogue on Verizon

i work as an indirect for verizon, and hae done this for people. flash the stock verizon rom on it, then take it in to a retail store wen they say something show them it boots verizon, and that you replaced a cracked housing with an alltel one from ebay. works like a charm, the reps on the phone are a little pickier, if its not on the vzw esn list they say no straight up
