Looks like most of the country is covered, so you should be good. I've never actually traveled abroad myself with a phone, but I'd expect it would work based on that map. |

I was in Tokyo back in June and I took my phone with me. I did get the roaming symbol on my phone but I could not make out bound calls though. I even received a few text messages but it did not have the name or number of the sender. I would check with Verizon to see which of the roaming plans would allow you to use your phone there.

I checked with verizon at the store, and they said that it will work for voice (roaming). For outbound calls, I will have to call customer support, and turn on international dialing. They don't seem to be sure on data though. I guess I can upgrade my data plan from the $30 unlimited, to a $65 unlimited plan, and then it should work. In Japan, they use CDMA for Voice, and UMTS for data. |
