Portable ActiveSync 4.5 (Finally!)

Basically, you just copy and run this .exe file on any Windows PC and you can now use ActiveSync. Great for computers where you can't install software on or just don't want to.

Requirements:A usb stick and a windows pc
Overview: Portable appz are appz to be run from usb stick and do not require installation. Annoyed of not being able to use active sync on other pc with user restictions (like at school)? Here is the solution.

Info: This is not a proper portable version, it leaves traces on host computer. If you want to delete traces browse to Documents and Settings/App Data/Thinstall. Otherwise This works with no installation on guest accounts. To stop application, as activesync doesnt have an exit button, you will need to use task manager to end process wcescomm.exe
Or simply log off.

To make the program NOT to write in the Application Data folder on the local computer, all you have to do is make a folder called "thinstall" in the same directory with the portable app (activesync in this case) on the usb drive and everything will be written there. This works for all the apps made with thinstall.

Does this also work for tethering, so you do not need to install active sync, rather just through your memorey stick on the computer?

Can it be launched from the SD card while inserted in the TREO?

can you upload it to the PPCGeeks to the FTP Site?

this looks like the start of a fantastic solution. i'd love to hear more about how it came to be. I love stuff along the lines of xerobank's stuff (xerobank.com), and this shows real promise.
