Yeah the new tabbed browsing look and function is pretty awesome, especially the home page, EXCEPT for the 'default' BBC and Wiki tabs that I don't think you can do anything about :(

I still uninstalled Opera 10beta this week though... a little "too beta" for my liking; NO PAGE would load the first time I directed the browser to it, I was incessantly hitting "refresh," which was annoyong and counterproductive. Aside from the look and feel, I really didn't notice much of a true tangible change, advantage, or increase in overall performance compares to the 9-series Opera Mobile releases. Once Opera-10 hits RC, or a 1st Stable Release, I will look into it.

*Oh, also... how on earth do you close it to background (not exit it all the way)? Opera-9's was much easier to close, you tapped the screen and it went from full screen, to show your Windows Mobile top-bar, where you could "X" it out, and later go right back to it through the drop-down task manager in the upper right hand corner of the phone. With Opera-10 all I saw was an "Exit" icon.

just hold ur finger on the bbc speed dial then select clear, u can change it to whatever you like

i hit my home (end key) to minimize opera and get to htc sense ui

beta2 uses much less ram and now thanks to opera-link i dont have to reconfigure all my bookmarks everyflash anymore!! yay

I like Opera 10. It's much faster, better looking interface, tabbed browsing is MUCH better (finally, thumbnails), and the animations look very nice! Menu icons also look good.

Only thing I would like to see improved (keep in mind I'm not uninstalling because of these), zoom control (needs integration with our zoom pad. I can't wait for multi-touch zoom on the HD2), and lock scrolling (vertical scrolling is sloppy).

Otherwise, I'm happy!

P.S. what's the newest version of Opera 10? I'm on Opera 10.00 from EnergyROM 28004 (although I'm going to flash 28008 shortly)

I put in the customer user agent string of Opera/10.50 (Windows NT 6.1; U; en-GB) Presto/2.2.2
seemed to make it even faster.

AWESOME, thanks for your help! I had no idea Beta2 was already out... I am always in amazement the pace things change at in this realm. Maybe I'll give it another shot... aside from not being able to scroll up/down in a linear motion, with what you shared with me looks like Opera10 beta2 might be the way to go! Just activated my new Touch-Pro 2 last night! :)

EDITED: Installing NOW on my TP2 :)

Anyone know why Opera doesn't like running in the background? Everytime I try to minimize Opera to do other stuff on the phone, Opera closes itself. Is this a setting or a "feature"?

i have no problem hiding it, it does suck down a lotta ram while minimized depending on how many tabs u left open so if u try to do anything else with ur phone like youtube or something memory intensive windows will shut it down for you to free up ram for another app, are you pressing the end key twice on your tp2 to get to manila home tab? thats what i do
what rom are you running?

That actually makes a lot of sense, because sometimes Opera would stay minimized, but usually it will be closed by Windows. I'm on EnergyROM 28008. I press the end key to minimize

how do you get the htc touch pro's zoom dial to work like it used to? as well as the start page with the htc search box

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta Released 11/17 CAB/OEM

Speaking of Opera/Internet browsing, I don't want to hi-jack this thread by any means - but from the first day of out of the box (Verizon) my TP2 hasn't been able to properly tether to my laptop using the usual built-in factory program for ICS from cell phone to laptop. I get an error code every single time that says "End Data Call First," even though I am not on any type of 'data call' (?) Has anyone else run into this problem or can point me in the right direction? All I've been able to use is WMwifiRouter's USB to PC function to connect to the net on my laptop :(

Does any one have issue with Opera 10 beta 2 that the text wrap does work quite well? For example PPCGeeks forum, all text wrap half way instead of expand all the way and wrap around when it reach the end.

Opera does that so that when you zoom in the text doesn't run off the right or left edge of your screen. You only have to move up and down to read it.

Opera 9.5 expand the text and contrast to fit the screen when you zoom in and out though. Some how they didn't carry this nice feature over opera 10.

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta Released 11/17 CAB/OEM

I know this is an Opera thread, and Opera is what I use ALL the time, except for last night... for the first time, Opera wasn't making a good connection for some inexplicable reason, and I went to the internet folder of my MightyROM (Touch Pro 2) and selected IE...

I was expected another embarassing and aggravating time trying to use this poor outdated mobile web-browser... but I was VERY IMPRESSED; I went to IMDB to look up some movies and actors, and it worked flawlessly and even rendered pages full screen just as they would appear on a desktop browser.

Has anyone used this included explorer in the MightyROM (Dec 6 release)? Anyway, I love Opera, but I wanted to make a note of my experience, thought it was worth discussion - I don't know if Mike uses some special Explorer Browser I didn't know about, but it was fast and very fluid.

1) Where are the favorites files stored at? I cant find a "Opera6.adr" file. Somone said that Opera 10 changed its file name and to look for a "bookmarks.adr" but I cant find that either

I searched around but didn't see any answers for this question. Anyone?

I am not that familiar with the Opera10 beta series... every time I give it another change as each beta is released, I end up not liking it as much as the 9-series Operas. The fav's in the Opera-9's are labeled as the opera6 you mentioned, and it works great importing favorites every time you do a hard reset! :)
